Metin2 GM Commands List: The Most Used Commands Explained

Metin2 GM Commands List: The Most Used Commands Explained

Metin2 GM commands are the fastest way to manage your server from inside the game: you teleport to a player, send an announcement to all channels or summon monsters for an event. This guide brings together the most used commands, how to type them and the GM level each one requires. The list is based on the command table in the publicly available Metin2 server source code and the files that process the commands.

How do GM commands work?

You type commands in the chat box, starting with /. The server stores the minimum GM level required for each command; if your level isn't high enough, the game responds as if the command didn't exist. In the source, the levels are ordered from lowest to highest as LOW_WIZARD, WIZARD, HIGH_WIZARD, GOD and IMPLEMENTOR, and a higher level can also use the commands of the levels below it.

  • Version differences: The levels below are based on the unmodified source code. Command names, parameters and levels may differ depending on the version of your server files and the changes made to them.
  • The abbreviation trap: In the source, command names also match abbreviations; the first command that starts with the letters you typed runs. To avoid triggering the wrong command, always type commands in full.
  • Parameters: In the tables, {...} marks a required parameter and [...] an optional one.

Teleport and player management commands

Command What does it do? Level
/warp {character} Teleports you to the player (must be on the same channel) LOW_WIZARD
/warp {x} {y} Teleports you to global map coordinates LOW_WIZARD
/goto {x} {y} Takes you to local coordinates on the map you're on LOW_WIZARD
/transfer {character} Pulls the player to you (must be on the same channel) LOW_WIZARD
/state [character] Shows position, level, HP, attack and defense info LOW_WIZARD
/invisible Turns invisibility on or off LOW_WIZARD
/stun {character}, /slow {character} Stuns or slows the player for a short time LOW_WIZARD
/dc {character} Disconnects the player LOW_WIZARD
/block_chat {character} {duration} Applies a chat ban; the duration is written as 30m, 2h, 1d and so on, 0 lifts the ban HIGH_WIZARD
/kill {character} Kills the player's character HIGH_WIZARD

/state comes in handy for finding coordinates: it shows both your global and your local position.

Announcement commands

Command What does it do? Level
/notice {text} Sends an announcement to players on all channels HIGH_WIZARD
/notice_map {text} Sends an announcement only to players on your current map and channel LOW_WIZARD
/big_notice {text} Shows large text in the middle of the screen HIGH_WIZARD

In the unmodified source, /big_notice only shows the text to the GM who typed the command; some server files have changed it so that it goes to everyone. Test it on your own files before you announce anything to players.

Monster and item commands

Command What does it do? Level
/mob {vnum} [amount] Summons a monster next to you; up to 20 per command HIGH_WIZARD
/ma {vnum} [amount] Summons monsters that attack players on their own HIGH_WIZARD
/group {vnum} Summons a monster group defined in the server files HIGH_WIZARD
/purge [all] Removes nearby monsters and NPCs; with all, everything in the area WIZARD
/respawn [all] Instantly triggers the monster spawn areas covering your position (with all, every one of them) WIZARD
/item {vnum} [amount] Creates an item in your inventory GOD

The vnum is the number of the monster or item in the server files and can differ from server to server. Don't use /purge all in a town center; it also removes the NPCs in the area.

Character and server management commands

Command What does it do? Level
/level {level} Changes your own level; your skills are reset LOW_WIZARD
/advance {character} {level} Changes another character's level GOD
/user Lists the players on the game core you're on HIGH_WIZARD
/who Shows the number of online players per empire IMPLEMENTOR
/eventflag {flag} {value} Sets an event flag (e.g. the EXP rate) HIGH_WIZARD
/priv_empire {empire} {type} {percent} {hours} Grants a timed EXP, Yang or item bonus HIGH_WIZARD
/reload a Reloads the GM list IMPLEMENTOR
/shutdown Shuts the server down after a 10-second countdown HIGH_WIZARD

We'll cover the rate commands and how to grant GM rights in separate guides.

Rules for safe use

  • Test first: Before trying a new command or value on the live server, run it in a test environment.
  • Watch your own inventory: /ipurge deletes all items in the inventory and equipment of the GM who types it.
  • Restrict critical commands: In the stock table, /shutdown is at the HIGH_WIZARD level; leave commands like this only to people you trust.
  • Review the logs: In the source, commands are written to the server logs; with the Turkish and European locale settings, GM commands are also stored in the command_log table of the log database.
  • Be fair: Don't trade with players on a GM character, and hand out rewards by clear rules. We explain how players recognize a fair server in our fair play guide.

Well-run events are also a powerful way to attract players; for more ideas, check out our 15 ways to attract players article. If your server is ready, you can list it for free on the add server page.

Frequently asked questions

Why aren't my GM commands working?

Most likely your GM level isn't high enough for that command; in the source, the game then responds as if the command didn't exist. A different command name in your server files or a GM list that hasn't been reloaded can lead to the same result.

Where do I find vnum numbers?

Monster numbers are in the mob_proto table of the server files, item numbers in the item_proto table. Since every server can change these tables, don't rely on another server's list.

What's the difference between /notice and /notice_map?

/notice sends the announcement to players on all channels. /notice_map only reaches players on your current map and on the same channel.

Can players use GM commands?

No, characters that aren't on the GM list can't use these commands. The only exception is test mode: in the source, everyone gets the highest rights while the server runs in test mode, so test mode must be off on a live server. If you get stuck, you can ask in the Support category of our forum.
