Metin2 Server Launch Planning: Announcement, Countdown and Stream
Launch day decides the future of a Metin2 Pvp server: the crowd that logs in during the first hours becomes the community of the weeks that follow. A good Metin2 server launch announcement and a steady countdown are the basic steps to gathering that crowd. Below, you'll find a plan that starts four weeks before launch, an announcement template and a launch day checklist.
Pick your launch date and time
- When players are free: Weekday evenings and weekends are when most players can make time for the game.
- Factor in the weekly vote reset: Votes reset every Friday at 20:59 Turkish time (UTC+3). Launch right after the reset and you have a full week ahead of you to collect your first week's votes.
- Write the time the same way everywhere: The add server form only takes the opening date. In your description, on your website and in your Discord announcements, give the time with its time zone, such as "21:00 (UTC+3)".
- Leave no room for delays: A postponed launch costs trust. Give yourself a buffer for testing and only announce the date once you're ready.
A four-week launch plan
| Time | To do |
|---|---|
| 4 weeks before | Have your website, Discord and rules ready; add your server to the list with its future opening date |
| 3 weeks before | Run a closed test; collect bugs, review the rates and class balance |
| 2 weeks before | Make the official announcement; finish your banner, description and trailer |
| Final week | Post a countdown every day, open the client download, test the server under load |
| Launch day | Do the final checks, stream the launch, keep your support team on standby |
| First week | Fix bugs fast, keep events running, switch on vote rewards |
Adding your server early on the add server page has a big advantage: once your server is published, it also appears in the opening calendar, since its opening date is in the future. The calendar groups servers by launch week, and players check it to see what's opening when.
How to write the announcement
A good launch announcement is short and complete. From a single message, players should learn:
- When: Date, time and time zone.
- What: Type, level range and your two or three strongest features.
- Where: Client download and registration address, Discord link.
- Why now: Launch week events and the rewards you'll really give out.
You can build your announcement with this template:
[Server name] opens: [date], at [time] (UTC+3)
1-99 Oldschool | Hardwork-focused economy | Weekly guild wars
Launch week: level race, guild tournament and vote rewards
Client and registration: [your website]
Questions and announcements: [your Discord link]
Make sure every piece of information in your announcement is accurate. A misleading opening date and promises of features or rewards that don't exist break our rules. We explained how to build your description in our server description guide, and the visual side in our banner guide.
Countdown: keep the hype alive
- One feature a day: Until launch, present a system, an event or something unique about your server every day.
- Visual countdown: Share simple graphics showing the days left on Discord and on your website.
- Get the community involved: Guild pre-registrations, polls and Q&A streams help players get to know each other before launch.
- Share your server page: If you share your server page on our site, players can see the opening date, your description and the comments in one place.
Launch day checklist
- Capacity and backups: Set your server capacity for the crowd you expect and make a backup before launch.
- Downloads: Even if the client has been available for days, keep a backup download link ready.
- Support: Open the support channels on Discord and prepare ready-made answers to frequently asked questions.
- Stream: Stream the launch live or share short videos from the first hours. You can add your channel's link to the YouTube field in your server details.
- Vote system: Test your vote link and reward system before launch. We explained the setup step by step in our vote API guide.
- Protection: A crowded launch can also attract malicious attacks; put your protection measures in place beforehand.
First week: don't lose momentum
The real test begins the day after launch. Fix bugs quickly and announce the fixes; when players see problems getting solved, they trust your server. Don't let your planned events slip, and encourage your players to vote. Since votes reset on Friday, you'll see where you stand in the ranking at the end of the first week and can adjust your plan for the second. Once the launch is behind you, don't forget to update the "we're opening" wording in your description.
Frequently asked questions
When should I add my server to the list?
A few weeks before launch. Once your server is published, it also appears in the opening calendar because its opening date is in the future, and players start following you early.
Where should I put the launch time?
The add server form only takes the date. State the time with its time zone in your description, on your website and in your Discord announcements.
What should I do if I have to postpone the launch?
As soon as the new date is set, announce it on all channels and update the opening date in your server details. Leaving the old date on the list misleads players.
What's the best day to launch?
There's no single right day. Evenings and weekends, when players are free, usually work well; since votes reset on Fridays at 20:59 Turkish time (UTC+3), launching right after the reset gives you a full week for your first week's votes.
