Metin2 Server Seasons and Resets: Preparing for a New Season

On Metin2 Pvp servers, a "new season" announcement means excitement for some players and worry for others: characters you've worked hard on get reset, but everyone starts again on equal terms. Understanding the season system helps you avoid wasting your effort and start the new season ahead of the pack. Here's what seasons and resets are, what gets deleted and what may stay, and how to prepare for a new Metin2 season step by step.

What do season and reset mean?

Some Pvp servers reset players' progress at regular intervals and restart the game as a "new season". Others keep the same world running for years and never reset. How long a season lasts and what a reset covers is entirely up to the server team.

A reset doesn't mean a server is doing badly; many teams use it as a deliberate plan. What matters is that the plan is announced clearly and in advance.

Types of resets

Type What usually happens? What to watch out for
Full reset Characters, items and Yang are deleted; everyone starts from scratch All that's left of your effort is your knowledge
Partial reset Progress is deleted; some cosmetics or rewards may be kept What carries over should be announced in writing
New season world The old world stays open, and the new season starts in a separate world The community may split between the two worlds

This breakdown is a general framework; every team builds its own model. Read the server's own announcement before you decide.

Why do servers run seasons?

  • The economy inflates: Over time, Yang and items pile up on the market, and what was earned through hard work loses value.
  • Content runs out: Once veterans have done everything, the game has no goals left.
  • New players can't catch up: When the gap gets too wide, newcomers soon give up.
  • Big changes arrive: If rates, class balance or systems are about to change fundamentally, a clean start can be fairer.

Seasons give a server a breath of fresh air, but on one that resets too often, effort loses its value; factor the season schedule into your choice.

Seasonal servers especially appeal to competitive players and to those who join late: every new season is a fresh shot at the top of the rankings. If you'd rather build a character over years and collect rare items, an established server that never resets may suit you better.

What gets deleted in a reset, and what stays?

There's no single answer. Look for answers to these questions in the season announcement:

  • Accounts: Will your account be kept, or will you have to register again?
  • Character names: Will veteran players get priority on names?
  • Item shop: Will your unused balance and items bought from the shop carry over to the new season?
  • Season rewards: Will top players in the rankings get rewards, and can those rewards be used in the new season?
  • Guilds: Will guild names be kept, or will guilds have to be founded again?

Look for the answers in the official announcement. Verbal promises made in Discord chat are easily forgotten on reset day.

What to do before the season ends

  • Stop spending: As a reset nears, don't spend money in the item shop; what you spend on a character about to be deleted won't come back. We explained how to recognize a fair shop in our item shop guide.
  • Take notes: Write down the skill distributions, bonus choices and farming routes that worked. Items get deleted, but your knowledge comes with you into the new season.
  • Check your account details: Make sure you can access your registered email; you may need to reset your password in the new season.
  • Plan with your guild: Talk in advance about whether you'll move to the new season together and who'll play which class.

The first days of a new season

  • Read the patch notes: If rates, class balance or systems have changed, some of what you know may no longer apply.
  • Update your client: The client may change with a new season; only download the new version from the official site. For installation problems, our client guide will help.
  • Use a fresh password: If you have to register again for the new season, don't reuse your old password; pick a new one you don't use anywhere else.
  • Follow a launch plan: A season launch is just like a server launch; for preparation and first-day strategy, see our first 24 hours guide.

So you don't miss new seasons and newly opened servers, check our opening calendar and the new servers list regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose what I bought in the item shop in a season reset?

It depends on the server's policy. Some teams carry balances or cosmetics over to the new season, others delete everything. Ask for a written announcement on this before you spend anything.

How long does a season last?

There's no fixed length; it varies from team to team. Servers with seasons should announce the next reset in advance; if there's no announcement, ask the team.

Do veteran players start the new season with an advantage?

If items don't carry over, everyone starts from the same point. Veterans' advantage is mostly knowledge, experience and an organized guild; some servers may also give small advantages through season rewards.

Is our site's weekly vote reset the same as a season?

No. On Metin2PvpServarlar.com, votes reset every Friday at 20:59 Turkish time (UTC+3); this only refreshes the weekly ranking. It has no effect on your character or items on the server.
