1-99, 1-105 or 1-120 Metin2 Servers: Which Level Range Fits You?

"1-99", "1-105" or "1-120" in a server's description tells you far more than the highest level your character can reach. Which maps and dungeons you can visit, where your power in Pvp comes from and how much time you need to put in all depend largely on this range. This guide compares the three popular options and helps you work out whether a 1-99 Metin2 Pvp server or one with a higher cap suits you better.

What does the level range decide?

In Metin2, many maps and dungeons only open from a certain level. That's why a server's level cap also decides which content actually matters: on a server that ends at level 99, a dungeon that requires level 100 never opens unless the team changes the requirements.

On the official servers the regular level cap is 120. The Champion Level system, introduced with update 20.4, adds another 30 levels on top of 120; at these levels your character's level still shows as 120. Pvp servers set their own cap and can also change rates and level requirements. The information below is based on the level requirements of the official servers, so check the map and system list of the server you'll play on as well.

Quick comparison

Range Pace Key content by official requirements Who is it for?
1-99 Simple, classic Devil's Catacomb and Dragon's Temple, unlocked at level 75 Fans of classic gameplay and straightforward Pvp
1-105 Medium Red Dragon Fortress and Nemere's Watchtower, unlocked at level 100 Players who want the classic feel with a few more goals
1-120 Long-term The Yohara region, unlocked at level 120 Fans of current systems and long-term goals

The table shows the general trend; the team decides which content ends up on the server.

1-99 servers: classic and simple

Most oldschool servers are in this range, and this is where gameplay comes closest to classic Metin2. By the official level requirements, the Devil's Catacomb and the Dragon's Temple open after level 75; for the Devil's Catacomb you also need to have completed the Demon Tower once. If you've never seen the tower, our Demon Tower guide is a good place to start.

Because there are few systems, power differences in Pvp mostly come down to upgrades, bonuses and player skill. Newcomers pick up the game faster, and catching up with veteran players is relatively easy.

What to watch out for: With limited content, you reach the top level quickly on fast-rate 1-99 servers. If you plan to play for a long time, look for things that keep the game alive, such as events, tournaments and guild wars. The current list is on the 1-99 servers page.

1-105 servers: between classic and new

The 1-105 range is the choice of servers that want to keep the classic feel but go a few steps further. On the official servers, the Red Dragon Fortress (Razador) and Nemere's Watchtower open after level 100. These dungeons don't fit into the 1-99 range but become playable at 1-105, provided the server has added them.

Cape Dragon Fire, Nephrite Bay and the Thunder Mountains, reachable after level 90 on the official servers, plus the Enchanted Forest, which requires at least level 95, technically fit into both ranges. Check the description to see whether these areas are on the server.

What to watch out for: The "1-105" label alone doesn't tell you what the content is. Some servers only raise the level cap, while others also add new maps and systems. Compare the descriptions on the 1-105 servers list.

1-120 servers: the most content

1-120 servers are usually newschool: systems such as alchemy, shoulder sashes and pets are part of the game, and there's always a new goal ahead of you. On the official servers you need at least level 120 to enter the Yohara region. An extra daily quest that gives materials for Dragon Stone Alchemy also only opens at level 110.

In Pvp, power doesn't come only from weapons and armor but also from systems stacked on top of each other. That's why it takes newcomers longer to catch up with veteran players.

What to watch out for: There's a lot to learn, and completing your character takes time. If you're short on time, pick a fast-rate server. For the list, see the 1-120 servers page.

Which range is right for you?

  • If you're new to Metin2: A 1-99 server is the easiest start, with simple systems and a clear Pvp setup.
  • If you love the classic feel but want more goals: 1-105 servers stretch the game a little with content after level 100.
  • If you love new systems and long-term goals: 1-120 servers can keep you busy for months, as long as you have the time to complete your character.
  • If you want to jump into Pvp right away: Look at servers that start at a high level, such as 55-120 or 65-250. Since the normal cap in the official game is 120, caps like 250 are entirely server-specific systems.
  • If you're playing with friends: Choose the range that fits the time everyone can put in; the slowest player's enjoyment affects the whole group.

Level range and server type often go hand in hand; we cover that relationship in our server types guide. Once you've settled on a range, use our 12-point checklist to assess servers one by one.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1-99 Pvp server good for beginners?

Yes. With few systems the game is easy to learn, and power differences in Pvp largely come down to gear and skill. Once you've got the basics down, you can move on to servers with a higher range.

Is a server with a higher level cap better?

No. A higher cap means more content, but it also asks for more time and learning. What makes a server good is less its level range than the team's stability, a lively community and game balance.

What is the highest level on the official servers?

The regular level cap is 120. Since update 20.4, level 120 characters can progress another 30 levels through the Champion Level system, while their character level still shows as 120.

Do two servers with the same level range offer the same content?

No. Pvp servers decide for themselves which maps, dungeons and systems to add and how to set rates and level requirements. Use the level range as a first filter and base your final decision on the details on the description page.
