Metin2 Bonus Guide: Enchant Item and Choosing the Right Bonuses
Picture two Metin2 characters at the same level and the same upgrade: if their bonuses differ, the gap in power between them is surprisingly big. Bonuses are the extra stats on your gear, and a few well-chosen ones directly change how many duels you win in Pvp. This Metin2 bonus guide explains how bonuses are added, what the Enchant Item does and which bonus to choose for each item.
What are bonuses and how do they work?
Weapons, armor, helmets, shields, shoes, bracelets, necklaces and earrings can carry extra bonuses. On the official servers, bonuses are split into two groups:
- Bonuses 1-5: The classic bonuses. Items dropped by monsters sometimes come with one or more bonuses; you add the missing ones yourself.
- Bonuses 6-7: Extra bonuses that can be added to items whose first five bonuses are complete. This is done through an NPC called Seon-Hae, found in Yongan, Joan, Pyungmoo and Dong Gwang Plain, and the item stays with him for 24 hours during the process.
Keep two rules in mind: the same bonus can only appear once on an item, and not every bonus can appear on every item. For example, Average Damage and Skill Damage can only appear on certain weapons (such as level 30, 75 and 105 weapons).
Bonus items: what does each one do?
| Item | What does it do? |
|---|---|
| Reinforce Item | Adds a new bonus to an item; used up to the 4th bonus and can fail |
| Blessing Marble | Adds a 5th bonus to an item with four bonuses; the addition can fail |
| Enchant Item | Removes bonuses 1-5 and rolls new ones; doesn't touch the 6th and 7th bonuses |
| Orison | Changes only the 6th and 7th bonuses; the first five stay as they are |
Don't mix up the names: the Blessing Scroll you use for upgrading and the Blessing Marble that adds the 5th bonus are different items. We cover the upgrade side in our upgrade guide.
On the official servers, the Enchant Item comes from sources such as Beran-Setaou, the Sung Ma Invasion Portal, various chests and the Item Shop. Some versions can't be traded, so read the item's description. Pvp servers may put these items in shops, the Item Shop or event rewards; sources and prices vary from server to server.
How to use the Enchant Item
- Finish upgrading first. If the item is destroyed during an upgrade, its bonuses go with it. Do your valuable bonus work once the item has reached your target level.
- Complete the bonuses. The Enchant Item doesn't add new bonuses; it changes the existing ones and only works on an item with at least one bonus. If you use it before completing all five, you waste it.
- Use it on the item. The bonuses and their values are re-rolled at random. The result can't be undone, and there's no way back to the previous bonuses.
- Set your goal in advance. Decide up front which bonuses you'll stop at. It's easy to burn every Enchant Item you have on a single piece of gear while chasing the perfect combination.
One note: the Enchant Item B does the same job, but the bonus percentages it rolls are lower. Use the regular Enchant Item on your valuable gear.
Choosing the right bonuses: Pvp tips by item
In Pvp, the most valuable bonus is usually Strong against Half Humans; it increases the damage you deal to players and to half-human monsters. On weapons, helmets, shields, bracelets and earrings, its highest value as a 1-5 bonus is 10%.
| Item | Bonuses to prioritize for Pvp |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Strong against Half Humans, Average Damage or Skill Damage, Chance of critical hit and Chance for piercing hits |
| Armor | Max. HP, defenses against your opponents' weapons, Magic Resistance |
| Helmet | Strong against Half Humans, Attack speed, Magic Resistance |
| Shield | Strong against Half Humans, Defence against faint, your main stat |
| Shoes | Max. HP, Attack speed, Chance of critical hit |
| Bracelet | Strong against Half Humans, Max. HP, Chance for piercing hits |
| Necklace | Max. HP, Chance of critical hit and Chance for piercing hits |
| Earrings | Strong against Half Humans, Movement speed, defenses |
Choose your defensive bonuses based on the class you face most: Sword and Two-Handed Defence work against Warriors, Sword Defence against Suras, Dagger and Arrow Defence against Ninjas, Bell and Fan Defence against Shamans, and Claw Defence against Lycans. Magic Resistance matters against opponents who use magic. Average Damage strengthens your regular hits and Skill Damage your skills; which one to pick depends on your character. We compared the classes' strengths in our class guide.
If you're planning a separate set for grinding, bonuses against monster types (such as Strong against Devil, Undead or Orcs), Chance for EXP bonus and Chance to drop double Yang are more useful.
Common mistakes
- Adding bonuses before upgrading: A failed upgrade can take the bonuses you spent weeks on with it.
- Sinking your budget into a single item: If you chase 10% on one item while your other pieces have no bonuses, your overall power drops.
- Mixing Pvp and grinding sets: EXP and Yang bonuses win you nothing in a duel, so keep the pieces that carry them for your grinding set.
- Not knowing the server's rules: Some servers change bonus values or the 6-7 bonus system. On Oldschool servers based on older versions, there may be no 6-7 bonuses at all.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Enchant Item change the 6th and 7th bonuses?
No. On the official servers, the Enchant Item only changes bonuses 1-5. To re-roll the 6th and 7th bonuses you use an Orison.
Does the Enchant Item increase the number of bonuses?
No, it only changes existing bonuses. To add new ones, you use a Reinforce Item for the first four bonuses and a Blessing Marble for the 5th.
What's the most important bonus for Pvp?
For most characters it's Strong against Half Humans, because it increases the damage you deal to players. Adding Max. HP and defenses that match your opponents' weapons gives you a balanced set.
Are bonuses on Pvp servers the same as on the official servers?
The basic bonus types are mostly the same, but values, item sources and prices can vary. Before you pick a server, you can check the best servers list and compare the servers' descriptions.
