Metin2 Mount Guide: Mount Bonuses and Picking the Right One

In Metin2, a mount does more than get you across maps quickly; picked right, it speeds up grinding, makes dungeons easier and gives you extra power in Pvp. But not every mount does the same job: some give EXP, some strength against monsters, others defense or attack. This Metin2 mount guide covers the mount types on the official servers, the bonuses they give and which one to pick for your goal. Pvp servers can add their own mounts and change the bonuses.

Mount types

On the official servers, mounts fall into three groups:

  • Basic mounts: The wild boar, wolf, tiger and lion mounts come with level requirements starting at level 75. Their seals come from Rotten Wooden Boxes dropped by monsters in the Grotto of Exile. You have to send your horse away before mounting, and the mount disappears after 5 minutes. If your level isn't high enough, you can swap the seal at Heuk-Young.
  • Power mounts: You get them with certificates you take to the Stable Boy; the Mount Certificate sold in the Item Shop, for example, gets you a lion for 7 days. They have three stages, Young, Wild and Valiant, and their duration can be extended with a Power Snack.
  • Special mounts: They're summoned with their seals, and most of them can be used at any level. They come from events, chests or the Item Shop; their duration and whether they can be traded depend on the mount.

Mount bonuses

According to the official wiki, the standout mounts and their bonuses are:

Mount Bonus
Wild Boar (basic) Defense +75
Wolf (basic) Defense +100
Tiger (basic) Defense +125
Lion (basic) Attack value +200
Wild Battle Boar Strength against monsters 20%
Fight Wolf, Storm Tiger Chance of critical hit 10%
Battle Lion Defense 10%
White Lion, Royal Tiger 30% EXP
Comet, Nightmare, Unicorn Movement speed 60%
Nirvana Dragon and Samsara Dragon Movement speed 20%, max HP +1500
Ellie, Manny Strength against monsters 15%, max HP +1500

On power mounts, movement speed is 30% at the Young stage, 40% at Wild and 50% at Valiant. The wiki lists attack value +100, defense +150, HP +500, strength against monsters 5% and EXP 5% as selectable bonuses for the Valiant stage.

The right mount for your goal

  • For grinding: Pick mounts that give strength against monsters and EXP. The Wild Battle Boar's 20%, or the 15% Ellie and Manny give along with extra HP, noticeably speeds up grinding.
  • For Pvp: Mounts that give critical hit chance, defense and max HP stand out. Don't underestimate movement speed either; you need speed to catch a fleeing opponent or to get out of a fight that's going badly.
  • For long trips: Mounts with 60% movement speed save the most time between maps.
  • For the Blue Dragon: In the Dragon's Temple, the wild boar raises the damage you deal to the Metin of Mountain, the tiger to the Metin of Solitude, the lion to the Metin of Arrogance and the wolf to the Metin of Vengeance. That's where basic mounts are most useful; we cover the whole dungeon in our Blue Dragon guide.

Horses and mounts

Mounts are directly linked to your horse. According to the official wiki, a stronger horse also affects your other mount use, and you can use horse skills on most mounts. To take a power mount to the Wild stage, your character needs to be at least level 35, your horse must have reached the Armed Horse Book stage, and you need a Scroll of Evolution. The Valiant stage requires level 50, a horse at the Military Horse Book stage and a Scroll of Mutation. In short, you can't get the most out of a power mount without training your horse. You'll find how to get and train a horse in our horse quests guide.

Mounts on Pvp servers

Pvp servers can rework the mount system their own way: you may see permanent mounts, special mounts sold in an in-game shop or much higher bonuses. Before you buy a mount, check:

  • Duration: Is the mount permanent, or does it disappear after a while?
  • Bonus: Does its bonus fit your goal? A grinding mount and a Pvp mount may not be the same.
  • Balance: On servers where mounts can only be bought with money and are strong enough to decide fights, the economy can get out of balance.

You can compare servers that care about mount and item balance in the best servers list, and if you like new systems, take a look at Newschool servers.

Frequently asked questions

How long do basic mounts last?

On the official servers, mounts summoned with wild boar, wolf, tiger and lion seals disappear after 5 minutes. Since they raise the damage dealt to certain Metins in the Dragon's Temple, that's where they're most useful.

Can you use skills while mounted?

According to the official wiki, horse skills can be used on most mounts. Pvp servers may have changed this rule.

What's the best mount for Pvp?

On the official servers, the Fight Wolf and Storm Tiger with 10% critical hit chance and the mounts with max HP +1500 stand out. On Pvp servers, check the server's own mount list first.

How does a power mount evolve?

On the official servers, you go from Young to Wild at level 35 with a Scroll of Evolution and from Wild to Valiant at level 50 with a Scroll of Mutation; your horse also has to be at a high enough stage. Movement speed and bonuses go up at each stage.
