Metin2 Spirit Stones Guide: Weapon and Armor Stone Bonuses

Metin2 Spirit Stones Guide: Weapon and Armor Stone Bonuses

You've upgraded your gear and added your bonuses, but there's one more way to make it stronger: spirit stones. In Metin2, spirit stones go into your weapon, armor, gloves and shoes and give a permanent bonus for as long as you wear the item. This guide explains what each stone does, how to manage the risk of broken stones and which stones to pick for Pvp. The values follow the official servers; Pvp servers can change stones, rates and bonuses.

What are spirit stones and where do they go?

On the official wiki, these stones are called spirit stones, and they fit into four pieces of gear: weapon, armor, gloves and shoes. The basic rules are:

  • Grade: Stones come in grades from +0 to +4, and the bonus grows with the grade. According to the official wiki, stones can't be upgraded, so you have to find or buy a +4 stone.
  • Sockets: As a general rule, items up to level 24 take 1 stone, level 25-44 items take 2, and items from level 45 take 3; some items are exceptions to this rule.
  • Same-stone rule: You can't put two of the same stone into one item, so plan three different stones for three sockets.
  • Shoes: To put stones into shoes, you first have to drill sockets with a Black Diamond Drill. Most shoes get at most 2 sockets; Moonshine Boots get 3.

Weapon stones and their bonuses

Stone Bonus +0 / +1 / +2 / +3 / +4
Stone against Warriors, Suras, Ninjas, Shamans, Lycans Strong against the matching class 5% / 8% / 12% / 17% / 25%
Stone of Deathblow Chance of critical hit 1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 8%
Stone of Penetration Chance for piercing hits 1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 8%
Stone of Cooldown Casting speed 5% / 8% / 12% / 17% / 25%
Anti-Magic Stone (weapon) Magic penetration 5% / 8% / 12% / 17% / 25%
Stone of Monsters Strong against monsters 1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 8%

Don't let the word "against" in their names mislead you: these stones go into your weapon and give the Strong against bonus for that class. Magic penetration, in turn, lowers your opponent's magic resistance by a percentage.

Armor stones and their bonuses

Stone Bonus +0 / +1 / +2 / +3 / +4
Stone of Vitality Max HP +50 / +100 / +150 / +200 / +300
Stone of Defence Defense +2 / +4 / +6 / +10 / +15
Stone of Haste Movement speed 5% / 10% / 15% / 20% / 30%
Stone of Evasion Chance to block a close-combat attack 1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 8%
Stone of Ducking Chance to avoid arrows 1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 8%
Stone of Magic Max SP +30 / +60 / +90 / +120 / +150
Anti-Magic Stone (armor) Magic penetration 5% / 8% / 12% / 17% / 25%

Glove stones (the Demon Stone and the Mighty Demon Stone) raise Sung Ma's will on the new continent, Yohara. For shoes, the options include stones that give poison and bleeding resistance, the Stone of the Moon for attack speed and the Stone of Experience for an EXP bonus.

Careful when adding stones: broken stones and removal

Adding a stone can fail. When it does, the stone breaks and a broken stone appears that blocks the socket. The official wiki gives no number for the success rate, so don't trust rumors like "it works better at this hour".

  • Clearing broken stones: A Stone Handbook removes all broken stones from the item. Broken stones are also cleared when the gear's upgrade level changes, that is, when you upgrade it or it drops a grade with a Blessing Scroll.
  • Removing a stone: A Scroll of Correction removes the most recently added stone without leaving a trace. A Spirit Stone Scroll removes all stones but leaves broken-stone marks in their place.
  • Think about the order: If you plan to upgrade, keep in mind that upgrading clears broken-stone marks. We explain the upgrade system in our upgrade guide.

Where do stones drop?

According to the official wiki, most Metins from level 25 up drop spirit stones; most Metins in dungeons are the exception. You'll find which Metin spawns where in our Metin stones guide. Two bosses stand out for +4 stones:

  • Mighty Ice Witch: A level 89 boss that appears at a random spot on the first floor of the Grotto of Exile every 8 hours and can drop various types of +4 stones.
  • Mysterious Monk: A level 127 boss that appears at a random spot in the Mysterious Dungeon every 6 hours.

Since stones can be traded, you'll also find them on the market. Buying a few +4 stones is sometimes cheaper than farming them.

Choosing stones for Pvp

  • On your weapon: Use the stone against the class you face most often and fill the remaining sockets with critical and piercing hit stones. On a character who hits with magic, the Stone of Cooldown and the Anti-Magic Stone stand out.
  • On your armor: Vitality and Defence stones are a solid base for every build. If most of your opponents fight in close combat, consider the Stone of Evasion; if they're archers, the Stone of Ducking.
  • Speed is a weapon too: The Stone of Haste makes a difference when you chase an opponent and when you pull out of a fight.

Frequently asked questions

Can you put two of the same stone into an item?

Not on the official servers; one item can hold only one of each stone. Pvp servers may have changed this rule.

How do you clear broken stones?

With a Stone Handbook, or by changing the gear's upgrade level. Upgrading, or dropping a grade with a Blessing Scroll, also wipes the marks.

Can stones be upgraded?

According to the official wiki, spirit stones can't be upgraded; you have to get +4 stones from Metins, bosses or the market. Some Pvp servers may add their own stone upgrade systems.

How do you raise the chance of adding a stone?

The official wiki gives no number for the chance of adding a stone and no method to raise it. Experiment with stones you can afford to lose, and keep a Stone Handbook at hand to clear broken stones.
