Metin2 Metin Stones Guide: Where They Spawn and What They Drop

Metin stones have become a symbol of Metin2, and they're the targets that keep the game's economy turning. They're the main source of Skill Books, Spirit Stones and Soul Stones, and the monster waves they summon also give plenty of experience. This guide explains where Metin2's Metin stones spawn, what they drop and how to farm them more efficiently. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers can change where Metins appear, how strong they are and what they drop.

What is a Metin stone and how does it work?

According to the official wiki, Metin stones fall from the sky like meteors and stay where they land until they're destroyed. They differ from other monsters in a few important ways:

  • It doesn't move or attack. But as you hit it, it summons groups of monsters around it depending on its remaining HP. On the official servers this usually happens in 10 waves: the first waves bring a single group, while the last ones can bring up to three groups.
  • It's very tough. According to the official wiki, Metins are much harder to destroy than other opponents of the same level. For example, the level 5 Metin of Sorrow has 14,550 HP and the level 70 Metin of Murder has 296,550.
  • It has its own guards. Every Metin has its own guardian monsters; the Metin of Black, for example, is guarded by White Oath soldiers.

Our map guide explains in detail which map to visit at which level.

What do Metin stones drop?

  • Skill Book: According to the official wiki, all regular Metins except Pung-Ma, Ma-An and Tu-Young drop Skill Books.
  • Spirit Stones: These +0 to +4 stones, which you add to weapons, armor, gloves and shoes, are among the most valuable Metin drops.
  • Soul Stone: Used to raise skills from Grand Master to Perfect Master, it drops from the level 40 Metin of Soul and higher Metins.
  • Gear: Every Metin drops weapons and armor that match its level; from high-level Metins, these items can come already upgraded.
  • Others: The Book of Forgetfulness, pet books, Blood Pills and potions are also common drops.

The loot gets richer at higher levels. The level 90 Metin Jeon-Un, for example, can drop crystal jewelry as well as Blessing Scrolls, Goddess Tears and a timed Experience Ring. For the best drops, the official wiki recommends hitting Metins close to your own level.

Tips for farming Metins efficiently

  1. Set up a route. Break the stones on the same map in order; on a well-planned route, you finish your round just as the first stone you broke respawns.
  2. Manage the waves. As a Metin's HP drops, it summons bigger groups. Pulling the monsters together and clearing them with area damage is faster than constantly interrupting your hits on the stone.
  3. Use the right bonus. The "Strong against Metin Stones" bonus increases the damage you deal to Metins; on the official servers it can be found on items such as necklaces and weapons. We cover bonus choices in our bonus guide.
  4. Get to know the Compass for Metin Stones. Sold in the Item Shop on the official servers, it shows the direction and distance to the next Metin with an arrow and can be used 6 times.
  5. Farm as a group. High-level stones take a long time solo. In a group you break them faster and get the group experience bonus; agree on how the loot will be shared up front.
  6. Make room in your inventory. Metins drop potions in stacks and books and stones one by one; a full inventory makes you leave the most valuable loot on the ground.

Metin stones on Pvp servers

On Pvp servers, Metins' HP, respawn times and drops are often changed. Some servers add special event Metins or maps exclusive to that server; on others, the drop rates for Spirit Stones and Soul Stones are much higher than on the official servers. On Hardwork servers, farming Metins is usually the backbone of the economy, while on For VS servers they're seen more as a quick source of gear. Whatever your situation, don't plan a route without checking the Metin list in the server's guide.
