Metin2 Map Guide: Where to Grind at Every Level

Metin2 Map Guide: Where to Grind at Every Level

How fast you progress in Metin2 depends largely on which map you grind on. On a map that's too easy you barely get any experience; on one that's too hard you run out of potions and patience. This map guide collects Metin2's grinding spots by the level ranges used on the official servers, along with each map's Metin stones and the things to watch out for. Pvp servers can change maps, monster levels and teleport rules, so use the table as a starting point.

How do you travel between maps?

  • Teleporter: From level 10, the Teleporter sends you between maps for Yang. On the official servers the fee goes up by 1,000 Yang every 5 levels. After level 60, the Demon Tower, Doyyumhwan, the Land of Giants and the Ghost Forest are added to the list, and after level 70 the Red Forest.
  • Old Man: The Old Man in the villages teleports you to some neutral maps for a flat 1,000 Yang. The higher your level, the cheaper he is compared to the Teleporter.
  • Portals: Some maps are reached through a gateway on another map. For example, you get to Hwang Temple through the portal in the Valley of Seungryong, and to the Land of Giants through the portal in Snakefield.

Below are the level ranges the official wiki gives for the maps the village Teleporter takes you to:

Grinding notes, map by map

1–44: Villages and guild zones

In the first villages, where your adventure begins, you'll meet wolves, wild boars and bears; as you near level 20, White Oath soldiers come into play. The first guild zones, such as Jungrang, Waryong and Imha, have cursed animals but no Metin stones. In the second villages, half-human monsters such as the Black Wind and Black Storm soldiers are waiting for you, and the level 42 Bestial Captain also spawns here. We cover this area's bosses in our early-level bosses guide.

34–50: Valley of Seungryong and Yongbi Desert

The Valley of Seungryong is home to orcs and bestial soldiers; the Chief Orc appears at a random spot on the map every 2 hours. The portal to Hwang Temple is here too. In the Yongbi Desert you'll meet spiders, scorpions and desert outlaws, and the Giant Tortoise shows up every 2 hours. With three different Metin types, the desert is one of the best maps for setting up a Metin route.

49–72: Mount Sohan, Doyyumhwan and Hwang Temple

Mount Sohan has ice monsters, zombies and plagued soldiers, and Nine Tails spawns every 2 hours. Doyyumhwan is full of fire monsters, and it's where the Flame King spawns. Hwang Temple has no Metin stones, but the entrances to the Demon Tower and the Devil's Catacomb are here.

60–99: Ghost Forest, Red Forest and Land of Giants

You can reach the Ghost Forest through the portal on Mount Sohan or in the Red Forest, and after level 60 also with the Teleporter; tree monsters and two high-level Metins are waiting there. The Red Forest is the last stop on the road to 99, and the Giant Ghost Tree appears here every 2 hours. The Land of Giants, reached via Snakefield, offers a second option for the Pung-Ma and Ma-An Metins, with monsters such as ogres and the Thousand Fighter.

90 and above: Cape Dragon Fire

Cape Dragon Fire has its own village with NPCs such as a Blacksmith, a Fisherman and a Stable Boy. Bosses such as the Gnoll Lord and Rakshasa spawn every hour at random spots on the map. From here you can also move on to Nephrite Bay.

5 rules for choosing the right map

  • Check the level gap. The monsters should be close to your level or slightly above it. Our fast leveling guide has a table showing how the level gap affects experience.
  • Match it with your Hunting Quest. Head to the map where the monsters your Hunting Quest asks for live; you'll get two jobs done at once.
  • Set up a Metin route. On the official servers, Metins respawn after 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the map. Meanwhile you can tour another area and come back.
  • Factor in boss timers. Bosses that spawn every 2 hours make a grinding spot dangerous if they catch you unprepared.
  • Avoid the crowds. On a channel where everyone is rushing for the same Metin, you lose time; pick a quiet channel or an alternative map.

Maps on Pvp servers

Pvp servers pick their maps to fit their level range and often rework them. On 1-99 servers, areas meant for levels above 99 are usually left out or used differently, while on 1-105 servers and 1-120 servers new areas such as Cape Dragon Fire come into play. Some servers add their own custom grinding maps and change monster levels and Metin respawn times. Check the server's guide to learn what each map is for; if you're looking for a server, the best servers list, ranked by player votes, is a good place to start.
