Metin2 Early-Level Bosses and Safe Grinding Guide

The moment you take down your first boss in Metin2 is when you feel your character really starting to get stronger. Early bosses drop good weapons, Soul Stones and materials for the biologist quest, but if you go in unprepared, they can floor you in a few hits. This guide covers where Metin2's early bosses between levels 30 and 62 spawn, what they can drop and how to take them down safely. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers may change boss locations, strength and rewards.

Early bosses at a glance

These bosses have habits you should watch for: the Walking Ape, Chief Orc and Ape Lord can stun you with their hits, while the Chief Orc and Dark Leader can knock you back. Most of them also deal skill damage, so the Resistance against Skill Damage bonus reduces the damage you take from these bosses.

Ape dungeons: Rock Ape, Walking Ape and Ape Lord

The three ape dungeons are a neat ladder for getting started with bosses. In each one the boss spawns at a fixed spot on the map, so its spawn time is easy to track.

• Hasun Dong (Easy): Entered through the Ape Dungeon portal in the second villages. You pass through several small sections to reach the round boss room at the end. The level 30 Rock Ape spawns here; it can drop +4 weapons such as the Orchid Sword, Lucky Knife and Stone Fan, plus Soul Stones, Pet Book Chests and Monkey Eggs.
• Jungsun Dong (Normal): Entered through the portal in the Yongbi Desert. Besides +4 weapons, the level 43 Walking Ape can also drop +3 armor such as the Ninja Suit and Sun Clothing.
• Sangsun Dong (Hard): Also entered through the portal in the Yongbi Desert. The level 55 Ape Lord can drop +4 weapons such as the Half Moon Sword, Chakram and Sun Fan, as well as +2 armor.

Bestial Captain: boss of the second villages

The Bestial Captain (level 42) shows up in Yayang, Bokjung and Bakra, the second village maps of the kingdoms, and respawns every 20 minutes. It spawns together with a group of archers and generals, so don't dive in before clearing the soldiers around it. Besides +2 items such as the Cat Bite Knife and Black Ruin Bow, it can drop Soul Stones and potion bundles. Bokjung also has level 25, 30 and 35 Metin stones, so you can take turns hitting the stones and the boss on the same round.

Chief Orc and Dark Leader

Chief Orc (Valley of Seungryong)

The Chief Orc (level 50) appears at a random spot in the Valley of Seungryong every 2 hours. Since its location isn't fixed, keep your eyes open as you roam the map. It can drop Soul Stones, the Chief Orc's Box, Young Pet Books and the Leaders' Notes needed for the biologist quest.

Dark Leader and the surprise second boss (Hwang Temple)

The Dark Leader (level 54) also appears at random spots in Hwang Temple every 2 hours. Here's what you really need to watch out for: when you kill it, the level 62 Dark-Ghost Leader appears. According to the values on the wiki, the second one has more than three times the HP of the first (319,600 versus 101,360). If your group doesn't have the strength and potions for a second fight, don't start on the Dark Leader at all. 7 rules for safe grinding

• Bring your level close to the boss: Fighting a boss far above your level just wastes potions. We cover ways to level up in our fast leveling guide.
• Clear the area first: If the boss surrounds you together with the monsters around it, the stun effect gets much more dangerous.
• Keep your buffs up: Boss fights can drag on, so renew your buff skills before they run out.
• Be ready for skill damage: Most of these bosses deal skill damage; if you have gear with Resistance against Skill Damage, wear it, and if not, use potions before your HP drops too low.
• Stock up on potions: Carry Blue Potions as well as Red; a character who can't use skills is dead weight at a boss.
• Go in as a group: A fight that drags on solo ends much faster with a group. Agree on how the loot will be shared up front.
• Note the spawn times: A route that cycles through the 20- and 30-minute bosses is far more efficient than waiting around.

Early bosses on Pvp servers

On most Pvp servers the rates are higher than on the official servers, so you may outlevel these bosses very quickly. Some servers, on the other hand, change the bosses' HP, respawn times and drops, or even add special chests for them. Check the server's description page and Discord announcements before you start playing. If you like classic progression, servers in the 1-99 level range are a good start; if you want to be among the first to reach the bosses, keep an eye on the new servers list. On Pvp servers, also be ready for attacks from other players at the boss; at busy hours, going with your guild is safest.
