Metin2 Ape Dungeons Guide: Easy, Normal and Hard
Metin2's ape dungeons are a three-step series that keeps you company from your 20s into your 50s. The Easy, Normal and Hard dungeons each have aggressive apes of their own level and, at the end, a boss that spawns every 30 minutes. Below, we compare the Metin2 ape dungeon options: when to enter each one and what to collect there. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers may change the monsters, bosses and drops.
The three ape dungeons at a glance
The official Turkish wiki lists the dungeons as Ape Dungeon (Easy), Ape Dungeon (Normal) and Ape Dungeon (Hard); the maps themselves are called Hasun Dong, Jungsun Dong and Sangsun Dong.
| Dungeon | Map | Entrance | Monster levels | Boss |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | Hasun Dong | Ape Dungeon portal in the second villages | 22–29 | Rock Ape (30) |
| Normal | Jungsun Dong | Portal in the Yongbi Desert | 35–41 | Walking Ape (43) |
| Hard | Sangsun Dong | Portal at the Yongbi Desert oasis | 45–54 | Ape Lord (55) |
The three bosses have things in common: they spawn every 30 minutes in the boss room at the end of the dungeon, and they're aggressive. According to the official Turkish and German wikis, their attacks count as skill damage, so the Resistance against Skill Damage bonus on your gear reduces the damage you take from them. They spawn with a group of apes that includes generals, so charging into the room alone is risky. All the regular apes in these dungeons are aggressive too; any group you pass comes after you on its own.
Easy: Hasun Dong
The Easy dungeon has its own entrance in each kingdom: Yayang in Shinsoo, Bokjung in Chunjo and Bakra in Jinno. It's made up of small sections linked by portals and ends in a round boss room.
- Monsters: Weak Ape Soldier (22), Weak Ape Thrower (25), Weak Ape Fighter (27) and Weak Ape General (29). The throwers' and generals' hits can stun you.
- Boss: Rock Ape (30). According to the official English and German wikis, its hits can slow you.
- Quest: Uriel's quest The secret of the Metin Stones sends you to the Hasun Stone Memorial in this dungeon.
Normal: Jungsun Dong
The Normal dungeon is a maze-like map full of forking paths and portals. At the end you reach a round room; you get into the boss room by walking through the colored wall there.
- Monsters: Apesoldier (35), Apethrower (37), Apefighter (39), Apegeneral (40) and Stone Ape (41). The throwers and Stone Apes can stun you.
- Boss: Walking Ape (43). It spawns with ape generals and Stone Apes, and its hits can stun you.
- Quest: The Su Memorial and the Wha Memorial on this map are visited in one of Uriel's secret book quests.
Hard: Sangsun Dong
The Hard dungeon's entrance is at the Yongbi Desert oasis. Inside, two kinds of apes roam at the same levels: Strong apes and Evil Strong apes. Again, you reach the boss room through a colored wall.
- Monsters: Strong Ape Soldier (45), Strong Ape Thrower (47), Strong Ape Fighter (49), Strong Ape General (52), Strong Stone Ape (53) and Strong Gold Ape (54). The throwers and gold apes can stun you.
- Boss: Ape Lord (55). The highest-level of the three bosses; its hits can both stun and slow you.
What to collect in the ape dungeons
- Horse Medal: Dropped by the apes in these dungeons. The Stable Boy asks for it in the horse level quests; see our horse quests guide for details.
- Monkey herbs: Used to revive a dead horse. The Rock Ape can drop the Herb of Easy Monkeys (Beginner Horse), the Walking Ape the Herb of Normal Monkeys (War Horse) and the Ape Lord the Herb of Hard Monkeys (Military Horse).
- Monkey Egg: All three bosses can drop it; it hatches into a Mini Monkey pet. We covered pets, along with the Pet Book Chests these bosses drop, in our pet system guide.
- Weapons and armor: The bosses can drop +4 weapons; the Walking Ape can also drop +3 armor and the Ape Lord +2 armor. You'll find examples in our early bosses guide.
Which dungeon suits you?
- Bring your level close to the monsters: Monsters far below your level give little experience and little loot. In your late 20s, the Easy dungeon is the right place; in your late 30s, Normal; past your mid-40s, Hard.
- Use your Hunting Quests: On the official servers, the Hunting Quests at levels 29–32 may ask for apes from the Easy dungeon, those at 46–48 for the Normal dungeon's apes and those at 49–50 for the Hard dungeon's apes.
- Be ready for stuns: While stunned, you can't attack for a while. The Defence against faint bonus on your shield lowers this risk.
- Keep the crowd under control: Since every ape is aggressive, running fast through the corridors can pull a big group behind you. If your potions won't last, pull the groups one at a time.
- Enter the boss room prepared: The boss spawns with the apes around it, so the room is crowded and they can all come at you at once. Top up your HP and potions before you go in.
- Do rounds in the desert: The Normal and Hard dungeons open from the same desert, so you can make the most of the 30-minute boss timers by going back and forth between them.
Ape dungeons on Pvp servers
On Pvp servers with high experience rates, you can outlevel these dungeons very quickly. Some servers, on the other hand, may change the bosses' HP, respawn time and drops. Horse and pet systems can also differ from server to server, so check the server's guide before you start collecting herbs or medals. You'll find servers with classic progression in the 1-99 level servers and Oldschool servers lists.
