How to Build a Metin2 Dungeon Group: Roles and Loot Sharing

In Metin2, dungeons are cleared by well-organized groups, not by strong characters alone. A group without clear roles, with a missing ticket or with no loot rules either falls apart at the boss or starts arguing the moment a chest drops. This guide shows you how to assign roles in a Metin2 dungeon group, which tools the group leader has and how to split loot without fights. Game system details follow the official servers; Pvp servers can change these systems.

The foundations of a good dungeon group

  • Group size: Every dungeon has its own limit. On the official servers, 2–8 players can enter the Dragon's Temple and 4–16 Meley's Lair with a guild, while the Spider Queen's Nest is entered as a group. Check your target dungeon's limit before forming the group.
  • Similar levels: In the group search system, the level gap between members can be at most 30. Keeping levels close in a group you build yourself also makes EXP sharing and survival easier.
  • Dungeon-specific requirements: Some dungeons require certain classes or items. Nemere's Watchtower, for example, requires a Dragon Force Shaman and a Ninja in the group; details are in our Nemere guide. In the Devil's Catacomb, everyone needs a Shrunken Head in their inventory to move on to the 3rd floor.

Role assignments: who does what?

Role Who fits? Task
Front line Sturdy characters such as the Mental Warrior Pulls the boss and its summoned helpers onto themselves
Single-target damage Body Warrior, Ninja, Lycan Deals fast damage to the boss and Metin stones
Area damage Weaponry Sura, Body Warrior Clears monster waves
Support Healing Force and Dragon Force Shaman Heals the group and keeps buffs up
Objective tracker The most attentive member of the group Keeps track of keys, stones and the timer

In small groups, one player covers two roles at once; what matters is that everyone knows their task before the fight. Don't underestimate the objective tracker: missing the timer or forgetting a ticket can waste the whole group's effort.

The group leader's tools

The group leader isn't just the person who sends invites. On the official servers, these tools are in their hands:

  • EXP distribution: The leader chooses whether experience is shared equally or by level. With equal distribution, every member gets the same share; with level-based distribution, higher-level members get more experience.
  • Leadership roles: As the Leadership skill improves, the leader can assign roles to group members: Attack Value opens at levels 5–19, Max. HP at M1–M4, Defence and Attack Speed at M5–M10, and Skill Duration and HP Restore between G5 and P. The same role can go to at most 2 members, or 3 at level P. Members must stay close to the leader for the bonuses to work.
  • Book of the Leader: When the group leader uses it, every member gets an extra +30% on the bonus experience they earn from the group.
  • Group search: This system, opened with Shift+J, automatically forms an 8-player group for the dungeon you choose.

So pick as leader the player with the highest Leadership skill who'll stay active throughout the fight.

Loot sharing: rules to agree on up front

Talking about rules after the chest drops is always too late. Settle these rules before you enter the dungeon:

  1. Priority to whoever uses it: A member who'll actually use an item has the first claim; if no one will use it, it's sold and the Yang is split evenly.
  2. Rotation: If there are several chests or valuable items, hand them out in turns. Write the order down so it carries over to the next dungeon run.
  3. Count the entry cost: Give the member who covered the entry items, such as the Twisted Key, Shrunken Head or Passage Ticket, either first pick or an extra share.
  4. Shared material pool: Split items everyone can use, such as Blessing Scrolls and Enchant Items, in turns or by need.
  5. Safe handover: When you split loot through the trade window, check the item and the amount twice. We cover scam methods in our trading guide.

Leaving the rules in writing in the group chat or a Discord channel ends any "that's not what I thought we agreed" argument later.

Common group mistakes

  • Missing ticket: If one member lacks a key or ticket, the whole group waits at the door. Everyone should check their inventory before entering.
  • The vanishing leader: In some dungeons, only the leader can handle the entry or critical steps. If the leader leaves mid-fight, the group gets stuck.
  • No communication: For timed tasks such as breaking Metins or carrying rings, voice chat makes a huge difference. In guild dungeons like Meley's Lair, it matters even more.
  • Leaving the healer exposed: If the support player goes down, the group goes down too. The front line has to keep monsters away from the healer; we cover the support role in detail in our Healing Force Shaman guide.

Finding a group on Pvp servers

On Pvp servers, group and leader systems, EXP rates and dungeon limits can be changed. The easiest way to build a regular group is to join an active guild and follow the group channels on the server's Discord. For busy servers where dungeon groups are easy to find, check the best servers list, and use our forum to look for group mates.

Frequently asked questions

How many players should a Metin2 dungeon group have?

It depends on the dungeon. On the official servers, for example, 2–8 players can enter the Dragon's Temple, while the group search system forms 8-player groups. Within your target dungeon's limit, bring at least one front-liner, one support and enough damage dealers.

How is group EXP distributed?

The group leader picks one of two options: with equal distribution, everyone gets the same share of experience; with level-based distribution, higher-level members earn more.

How should dungeon loot be shared?

The fairest way is to set the rules in writing before entering the dungeon. Priority to whoever uses the item, a rotation system and an extra share for whoever covers the entry cost are fair rules that are easy to apply.

What does the group leader do?

The group leader chooses the EXP distribution, assigns roles to members with the Leadership skill and can raise the group's bonus experience with the Book of the Leader.
