Metin2 Trading Guide: Private Shops, Prices and Avoiding Scams

In Metin2, the economy runs on players: you sell what you've farmed in your shop and buy what you're missing from others. Unfortunately, that's exactly where scammers wait for players who rush and don't watch the numbers. This Metin2 trading guide covers opening a shop, finding the right price and the rules that keep you safe in the trade window. Shop details follow the official servers; Pvp servers can change shop rules and systems.

How do you open a shop on the official servers?

Your private shop sells items for you. On the official servers, the rules are:

  • Location: Shops can only be opened on the Bazaar map. The Trade Administrator in the villages teleports you there for 5,000 Yang, and the whole map is a safe zone.
  • Level: There's no level requirement; anyone can open a shop.
  • Bundle: A Bundle from the General Store Saleswoman opens a 40-slot shop; take off your armor before using it. The Item Shop's Kashmir Bundle has 80 slots and remembers your prices.
  • Offline shop: While the Personal Premium Shop is active, your shop stays open when you're offline. In the Bazaar, you can manage it and move the money from sales to your character.
  • Tax: Sales are taxed 3%, or 1% in an offline shop.

Finding the right price

Before you buy, check what the same item costs in other shops.

  • Trading Glass: Searches the shops on the same map and channel for an item and lets you buy it directly; click a result and a blue arrow points to the shop. The Looking Glass is time-limited and only lets you search; you can't buy through it.
  • Price colors: Prices below 49,999 Yang show in gray, 50,000-499,999 in white, 500,000 and above in yellow, and Won prices in blue. If a supposedly cheap item shows a yellow price, count the zeros again.
  • Won and Yang: A character can carry at most 1,999,999,999 Yang. The Storekeeper converts Yang into Won; 1 Won equals 100,000,000 Yang.
  • Abbreviations: 1K is 1,000, 1M is 1,000,000 and 1T is 1,000,000,000 Yang. Many international players write "KK" for a million.

We cover ways to build up Yang in our Yang guide.

8 rules to avoid scams in the trade window

Outside shops, two players swap directly in the trade window, and that's where most scams happen:

  1. Take one last look before confirming. The other player can swap the item or the Yang amount at the last second, so reread the whole window before you press confirm.
  2. Count the zeros one by one. 10,000,000 and 1,000,000 differ by a single zero, which is easy to miss at a glance.
  3. Hover over the item. Check its name, upgrade level and bonuses in the description. The "+8" you agreed on may be +7, and the bonus may not be the one you expect.
  4. Don't split the trade. "You give first, I'll pay after", "drop it and I'll pick it up" or "half now, half later" are classic traps. Everything should change hands in one window at the same time.
  5. Don't let anyone rush you. "Another buyer is waiting, confirm now" is pressure meant to distract you. The one in a hurry is them, not you.
  6. Never give out your password. Even if someone claims to be a GM or staff, don't trust anyone who asks for your password, storeroom password or items.
  7. Don't trade for real money. Many sellers who want payment outside the game are scammers; such deals also break many servers' rules and can get your account banned.
  8. Bind your valuable gear. Gear bound to your character with a Scroll of Binding from the General Store Saleswoman can't be sold, dropped, traded or upgraded. Unbinding with a Scroll of Unbinding takes 72 hours, so even if your account is taken over, your gear can't be passed on right away.

More ways to protect your account are in our account security guide.

Selling? Set up your shop the right way

  • Check the price twice: One missing zero sells your item for a tenth of its value.
  • Scan the market first: Check the same item's prices with the Trading Glass and price it neither too high nor too low.
  • Collect your money: In an offline shop, the money from sold items waits in the shop until you transfer it.
  • Don't rush valuable sales: On new servers, prices swing fast in the first days; watching the market for a few days can get you a better price.

Trading on Pvp servers

On Pvp servers, the shop system can differ from the official one: some allow shops on other maps, others add their own trading systems. Before you start, learn the server's trading rules and where to report scams (Discord, forum or support system). For an active, trustworthy community, browse the best servers list, and share your trading experiences with other players on the forum.
