Metin2 Yang Farming Guide: 12 Ways to Earn In-Game Money
In Metin2, everything from upgrades and bonuses to potions and new gear costs Yang. A player who doesn't know how to farm Yang either waits a very long time to build a strong character or sells their items at a loss. This guide groups 12 ways to earn Yang in Metin2 under three headings, from killing monsters to market trading and professions. All of them are safe methods that stay within the game's rules.
Monsters, Metins and bosses: the main sources of Yang
On the official servers, Yang comes from monsters, chests and quests. The first five ways are about making the most of these sources.
- Kill monsters that match your level. If you're far above the level of the monster you kill, the chance of item drops falls sharply. Grinding in areas close to your own level pays off better for both experience and loot.
- Break Metin stones. Metins drop items such as potions, Spirit Stones and Skill Books. On the official servers, Metins of level 40 and above also drop Soul Stones; these items find buyers easily on the market.
- Watch for Yangbombs at bosses. A Yangbomb is when a monster drops more Yang than average, and it often brings 2 to 5 times as much. On the official servers, Beran-Setaou and Jotun Thrym are the best-known bosses for this.
- Use the Chance to drop double Yang bonus. This bonus increases the amount of Yang you get from monsters and can go up to 20% on shields, shoes and necklaces. Our bonus guide explains which bonus can appear on which item.
- Don't skip quest and chest rewards. Quests and chests also give Yang or items you can sell. Finishing your quests as you level up goes a long way toward your Yang needs in the first days.
Earning Yang through trading
- Sell unneeded items to the shop. The General Store Saleswoman buys items from players. Instead of hoarding items you won't use and that don't sell on the market, sell them; it frees up your inventory too.
- Open your own shop. With a Bundle bought from the General Store Saleswoman, you can open a private shop and sell your items to other players. On the official servers there's also an offline shop system run on the Bazaar map; on Pvp servers the shop system varies by server.
- Stock up on materials in demand. Soul Stones, Blessing Scrolls and Skill Books are always in demand on most servers. Sell whatever you don't need yourself when prices go up.
- Buy low, sell at fair value. Browse the market regularly and note prices. Buying an item listed below market price and reselling it at a reasonable price turns into serious income over time.
- Add value with upgrades and bonuses. An upgraded or well-bonused item sells for more than the plain version. But a failed upgrade can destroy the item, so do the math first. You'll find the risks in our upgrade guide.
Professions: fishing and mining
- Go fishing. On the official servers you can fish from level 30, and you buy the Fishing Pole from the Fisherman. The Gold Ring and Lump of Gold you can reel in sell for a high price at the shop, and a Clam may contain a Pearl.
- Take up mining. You buy the Pickaxe from Deokbae and can use it from level 30. Refined ores find buyers on the market because they raise the base values of earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Holding on to the Yang you earn
Managing your spending matters as much as earning Yang:
- Don't fall for launch prices: On newly opened servers, prices are very high in the first days. Put off non-urgent purchases for a few days.
- Waste fewer potions: Using more potions than you need in easy areas eats up a big part of your earnings.
- Know the limit: A character can carry at most 1,999,999,999 Yang. On the official servers, there's a Won system for large amounts.
This information is based on the official servers. Pvp servers can change Yang rates, shop prices and item drops, so check the server's guide before you play.
What to stay away from
Using bots, cheat programs or exploits can get your account banned permanently. Buying and selling Yang for real money is also against the rules on most servers, and the risk of being scammed is high. If you want an economy built on hard work, take a look at Hardwork servers; Yang is hard to earn there, so it's usually worth more too.
Frequently asked questions
What's the fastest way to farm Yang in Metin2?
There's no single magic method. On most servers, killing Metins and monsters that match your level and selling the valuable drops on the market is the most balanced approach. The Chance to drop double Yang bonus boosts these earnings.
What's the point of converting Yang into Won?
The amount of Yang a character can carry is limited. On the official servers, the Storekeeper can convert Yang into Won (1 Won = 100,000,000 Yang), which is handy when dealing with large sums. Not every Pvp server has this system.
Is it safe to buy Yang with real money?
No. It's against the rules on most servers, the person you pay can scam you, and your account can be banned. Earning Yang in game is always safer.
Is it easier to earn Yang on a newly opened server?
Since material prices are high in the first days, selling Metin drops early can be profitable. You'll find newly opened servers on the new servers page.
