Metin2 Dragon Force Shaman Guide: Building a Damage Shaman
When most players think of a Shaman, they picture a support character who heals the team. The Dragon Force group, however, deals magic damage from range, burns and slows opponents, and on top of that gives the team a chance of critical hits. This Metin2 Dragon Force Shaman guide explains how to build a damage-focused Shaman: skill order, stat distribution, weapon choice and bonus priorities.
Dragon Force Shaman skills
The information is based on the skill pages of the official wiki:
| Skill | Type | What does it do? |
|---|---|---|
| Shooting Dragon | Magic attack | Fires a dragon figure along a line toward the target; has a chance to set the opponent on fire. |
| Flying Talisman | Magic attack | Throws a fast talisman that follows its target; has a chance to slow. |
| Dragon's Roar | Magic attack | Damages opponents in an area, up to 15 targets; has a chance to set them on fire. |
| Dragon's Strength | Buff | Gives you or a group member a chance of critical hits. |
| Blessing | Buff | Reduces the damage taken from regular hits. |
| Reflect | Buff | Reflects part of melee hits back to the attacker. |
According to the official wiki, all three attack skills deal 10% extra damage when used with a bell. And when you cast Dragon's Strength, Blessing and Reflect on yourself, their effects are somewhat stronger.
Continuous fire: your silent damage source
Shooting Dragon and Dragon's Roar can set your opponent on fire. According to the official wiki, this effect lasts for a while and deals fixed damage every 3 seconds. Its damage grows with Intelligence and Skill Damage, and it can't be reduced by magic defense or Magic Resistance. The chance to set targets on fire also rises with skill level and Intelligence. So every investment in Intelligence boosts both your direct damage and this extra damage.
Damage-focused skill order
For a Pvp-focused Shaman, the official wiki's Dragon Force guide recommends making the three attack skills and Dragon's Strength your first four Masters, with Dragon's Strength taken second or third. A sensible order based on that:
- Shooting Dragon: Charges quickly, hits along a line and can set targets on fire.
- Dragon's Strength: Its chance of critical hits strengthens both your grinding and your duels.
- Flying Talisman: Since it follows its target, it's very effective at finishing off fleeing opponents.
- Dragon's Roar: The slowest to charge, but an area skill that can hit many opponents at once.
- Blessing and Reflect: With your remaining points; especially valuable if you play in a group.
If you'll level by killing monsters, you can put Dragon's Roar first. According to the wiki guide, Blessing only reduces physical damage and doesn't affect magic or skill damage, so it isn't a priority in Pvp.
Stat distribution
According to the official wiki, Shamans put Intelligence ahead of everything, because it raises both the damage of their attack skills and the effect of their buffs.
- Intelligence (INT): As high as possible; the first stat you take to 90.
- Vitality (VIT): The key to survival at low levels; each point raises max HP by 40.
- Dexterity (DEX): Acts as a multiplier on your weapon's magic attack value; Shooting Dragon and Blessing also scale with Dexterity.
- Strength (STR): According to the wiki guide, it's almost worthless for a Dragon Force Shaman in Pvp.
The wiki guide recommends keeping Vitality full at low levels and moving some of your Vitality points into Dexterity from around level 70-75. Whether stats can be reset varies from server to server, so plan accordingly.
Weapon choice: bell or fan?
Shamans use bells and fans. According to the official wiki's Turkish skill pages, the dragon skills deal 10% more damage with a bell. The English class page, on the other hand, recommends the fan for Pvp, since its magic attack value is usually higher. The best approach is to compare the magic attack values of the weapons you have while also factoring in the bell's 10% advantage.
Bonus tips for Pvp
We explain in detail what each bonus does in our Average Damage vs Skill Damage comparison. The tips are based on the official servers' bonus lists; Pvp servers can change these lists.
- Skill Damage: Almost all of your damage comes from skills, and it also strengthens the continuous fire. On the official servers, as a regular weapon bonus it only appears on level 30, 75 and 105 weapons.
- Strong against Half Humans: Increases the damage of all your physical and magic attacks against players.
- Casting speed: Shortens cooldowns, so you use your skills more often.
- Intelligence: The Intelligence bonus, which can appear on weapons and shields, feeds both your damage and your buffs.
- Defense: Max. HP, Defence against faint and the weapon defense against the class you face most. Add Magic Resistance against other magic users.
Don't invest in Chance for piercing hits: according to the official wiki, it does nothing for magic skill attacks.
Gameplay tips
- Keep your distance: When melee fighters stick to you, use Flying Talisman's slow to put some space between you.
- Roar into a crowd: Since Dragon's Roar damages opponents in an area, it works best when they stand close together. We cover how fast-moving Ninjas play in our Blade-Fight Ninja guide.
- Share your buffs: You can cast Dragon's Strength on group members too; your team will thank you in guild wars.
You can find servers to try your Shaman on in the best servers list built from player votes, and share your build questions on the forum.
Frequently asked questions
What's the most important stat for a Dragon Force Shaman?
Intelligence. It raises both the damage of your attack skills and the effect of buffs such as Dragon's Strength. Don't neglect Vitality at low levels either.
Is the Dragon Force Shaman strong in Pvp?
With the right gear, yes. Ranged damage, continuous fire and slows make it dangerous. Still, it's fragile at close range; managing distance decides the duel.
Is Blessing useful in Pvp?
According to the official wiki, Blessing only reduces damage taken from regular hits and does nothing against skills. That's why in Pvp it comes after Dragon's Strength and the attack skills.
Which weapon should a Shaman use?
When choosing between a bell and a fan, look at their magic attack values. The dragon skills deal 10% more damage with a bell, while fans usually offer a higher magic attack value.
