Body or Mental Warrior? Metin2 Skill Group Comparison
You've decided to play a Warrior, but the skill group choice has you stuck: Body or Mental? The two branches create two very different characters within the same class; one wants to jump on the opponent and win with damage, the other wants to stay standing on the front line and drag the fight out. Without repeating the skill orders, this article compares the two branches by play style, Pvp, monster hunting, defense and gear to make your decision easier.
The core of each branch: pressure or toughness?
The official wiki's English and Romanian Warrior pages sum up the difference briefly: the Mental Warrior is a tank with an almost unbreakable defense, while the Body Warrior is the branch for an offensive play style. You'll see this difference in the skills too:
- Body: Aura of the Sword raises your attack value, and Berserk raises your attack and movement speed. Berserk has a price: while it's active, the melee and arrow damage you take goes up too. With Dash, you charge at your opponent and close the gap; this charge can stun them.
- Mental: Strong Body raises your defense and, from Grand Master on, keeps you from being knocked down, at the cost of lower movement speed. Sword Strike stuns a target at a distance, and Stump also has a chance to stun.
Comparison table
| Criterion | Body Warrior | Mental Warrior |
|---|---|---|
| Play style | Aggressive, goes at the opponent | Tough, holds the front line |
| Burst damage | High | Lower |
| Defense | Low; the damage you take also rises while Berserk is active | High; Strong Body raises it even further |
| Stopping the opponent | Chance to stun with Dash | Stuns with Sword Strike and Stump |
| Breaking Metin stones | Very fast | Slow unless you invest in Strength |
| Large monster groups | Hits several enemies with Sword Spin | Can fight many monsters at once thanks to Strong Body |
| Recommended weapon | One-handed sword on foot, two-handed weapon on horseback | Two-handed weapon |
| Key stat | Strength | Vitality |
The ratings in the table are based on the class pages and guides on the official wikis; some of them appear on a page in only one language, so the sections below give them with their source. Pvp servers can change skill values and class balance, so treat them as general trends rather than hard rules.
Which one stands out in Pvp?
The official wiki's Polish Warrior page describes the Mental branch as weaker than Body in 1v1 duels but more comfortable for grinding experience; the same page also notes that this gap closes at higher levels. The Body Warrior opens a duel with Dash and tries to deal a lot of damage in a short time. If your opponent has Defence against faint, Dash's chance to stun drops considerably, so don't build your plan around a single stun.
The Mental Warrior, on the other hand, tries to win by dragging the fight out. Its defense is high, and Sword Strike can stun an opponent who backs away. This branch fits the front line of guild wars best: the official wikis describe Warriors as characters who fight at the very front and must be able to take a lot of damage. The Body Warrior is better suited to diving into the crowd from behind the front line and dealing damage with area skills.
Monster hunting and solo play
If you'll level alone, both branches get the job done, just in different ways:
- Body: According to the Polish wiki page, it breaks Metin stones very quickly; it suits players who like hunting Metins for Yang and drops. Its weak spot is its low defense, so go into strong monster groups carefully.
- Mental: The same page writes that thanks to Strong Body, Mental can take on bigger monster groups and that grinding experience is easy with this branch. The official wiki's English Mental Warrior guide adds a warning: with a Vitality-heavy build, your damage against Metin stones drops sharply, so if you want to hunt Metins, you need to invest in Strength.
In short, if you're focused on Metins and Yang, Body is the more comfortable route; if you want to clear crowds of monsters safely, Mental is.
Gear and investment
- Weapon: According to the official wiki, the Body Warrior is more efficient with a one-handed sword on foot and a two-handed weapon on horseback, while the Mental Warrior usually does best with a two-handed weapon.
- Bonuses: According to the Mental Warrior guide on the wiki, this branch's damage comes from skills rather than regular hits, and it relies heavily on bonuses that cut cooldowns. In the Body branch, Berserk raises attack speed, which speeds up your regular hits.
- Stats: Both branches raise Strength and Vitality first, then Dexterity. Strength is more critical for Body, Vitality for Mental.

Which one should you choose?
- If you like going at your opponent: Body. Short, hard-hitting fights that build pressure are your thing.
- If you want a character that forgives your mistakes: Mental. Its high defense makes learning easier.
- If you'll hunt Metins and save up Yang: Body, or a Mental Warrior who doesn't neglect Strength.
- If you'll stand on the front line in guild wars: Mental; the front line's job is to absorb damage.
- If 1v1 duels are your goal: Body, but expect your opponents to use Defence against faint.

Frequently asked questions
Which is stronger, Body or Mental?
There's no single answer. The Body branch stands out in burst damage and 1v1 pressure, the Mental branch in defense and long fights. The server's balance and your gear decide the outcome.
Which branch should a beginner choose?
Thanks to its high defense, Mental is more forgiving; the Polish wiki page also recommends this branch to players who want an easier route to high levels. If you want to clear monsters and Metins quickly, Body can be more fun.
Can I change my skill group later?
On the official servers, the Old Lady lets you reset your skills up to level 30; whether you can switch branches completely depends on the server's rules. You'll find the details in our skill group quest guide.
Which branch is in more demand in guild wars?
For the front line, the Mental Warrior is usually preferred; Strong Body, which keeps you from being knocked down from Grand Master on, keeps it on its feet in the middle of the crowd. The Body Warrior contributes on the damage side with area skills.
