Metin2 Skill Levels: How to Reach M, G and P (Soul Stone Guide)

Taking a skill to P (Perfect Master) in Metin2 is the longest but most lasting way to make your character stronger. You reach M with skill points, G with Skill Books and P with Soul Stones, and each stage has its own rules and costs. This guide walks you through perfecting a skill from start to finish, following the rules of the official servers. Pvp servers can change these rules, cooldowns and drop rates, so be sure to check your own server's guide too.

Skill levels: Normal, M, G and P

Every skill goes through four stages: Normal, Master (M1–M10), Grand Master (G1–G10) and Perfect Master (P). With each stage, the skill's damage or effect grows noticeably; that's why in Pvp, whether a skill is G or P often decides the outcome.

Stage How to upgrade Rule on the official servers
Normal → M1 Skill points The skill becomes Master once it reaches somewhere between 17 and 20 points
M1 → G1 Skill Book 55 successful reads in total; each read costs 20,000 EXP
G1 → P Soul Stone 10 successful reads in total; each attempt costs rank points

How to reach M

Your character earns a skill point every time it levels up. If you concentrate your points on your main skills instead of spreading them across many, you'll make them Master much earlier. Pick your most-used attack skill and your core buff first.

If you've put points in the wrong place, there are two ways out. The Book of Forgetfulness lowers a Normal-level (1–19) skill by one level so you can move that point elsewhere. The skill reset scroll, on the other hand, completely resets the skill you choose; according to the official wiki, at most 17 points are returned in that case.

How to reach G: reading Skill Books

Once a skill reaches M1, it no longer improves with points but with its own Skill Book. On the official servers:

  • Each read costs 20,000 EXP: If you don't have enough EXP, you can't read the book.
  • Reads can fail: You need 55 successful reads in total from M1 to G1; failed attempts don't count.
  • There's a cooldown: To read another book of the same kind, you wait about a day; books for different skills have separate cooldowns.
  • Exorcism Scroll: Lets you skip the cooldown and read a new book right away. If you use it while you have no cooldown, it's wasted.
  • Concentrated Reading: Raises your success chance on the next read.

We covered which book drops from which Metin in detail in our skill books article.

How to reach P: reading Soul Stones

To take a G1 skill to P, you read Soul Stones. Right-clicking the stone opens a window where you pick the skill you want to train. From G1 to P, you need 10 successful reads in total, and on the official servers, each attempt costs rank points:

  • G1 → G2: 1,000 rank points
  • At each following stage: the cost rises by 500 points
  • G10 → P: 5,500 rank points

A failed attempt costs roughly a third to a half of these values. If your rank is negative, every read costs double, and you can't do a read that would take you below -20,000. There's a cooldown of up to half a day between two reads. Concentrated Reading raises your success chance with Soul Stones too. You'll find where Soul Stones drop and how to stock up on them in our Soul Stone guide.

On the official servers, Boost and Ward skills use the Soul Stone+, and the 9th skill uses the Talent Potion; these systems don't exist on every Pvp server.

Protecting your rank points

In the Soul Stone process, rank points matter as much as the stones. On the official servers:

  • Killing monsters and staying outside the safe zone earn you rank points; with positive rank you get 1 point every 2 minutes, with negative rank 6 points every minute.
  • Sage King's Symbol doubles the points you earn outside the safe zone.
  • Zen Bean raises your negative rank by 500 points, and Fruit of Life by 2,000.

Don't take negative rank lightly: at level 50 and above, if you die while your rank is negative, you can drop items from your inventory and even from the gear you're wearing. Calculate your points before reading Soul Stones, and fix your rank before heading into Pvp.

Which skill should you upgrade first?

Since your resources are limited, don't try to upgrade all your skills at once. First take your main damage skill, or the core buff that keeps you alive, to G and then to P. On Pvp servers, find out whether books and stones are sold in a shop and whether cooldowns have been changed; this information is often on the server's page. You can compare servers on this point through their pages on the best servers and new servers lists.

Frequently asked questions

How many Skill Books do you need from M to G?

On the official servers, taking a skill from M1 to G1 takes 55 successful reads. Since failed reads don't count, you should have more books than that on hand.

How many Soul Stones do you need from G to P?

From G1 to P, you need 10 successful Soul Stone reads. Since each attempt costs rank points, build up rank points along with the stones.

What happens if my rank goes negative while reading Soul Stones?

With negative rank, every read costs double the rank points. On top of that, if you die with negative rank at level 50 or above, you risk dropping items.

Is it easier to perfect skills on Pvp servers?

It varies from server to server. Some Pvp servers change drop rates, cooldowns or the rank point requirement, so check the server's page and guide.
