Which Metin Stones Drop Skill Books in Metin2?
Once your skills reach Master level, you can no longer improve them with skill points; from there on, the way forward is skill books. The good news is that almost all Metin stones drop books. The bad news is that in some level ranges, Metins don't drop any books at all. This guide covers which Metin drops skill books in Metin2, which map to farm at which level and which bosses give books. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers may change drops.
What does a skill book do?
- Purpose: Improves skills at Master level. Skills can become Master from the 17th skill point on; after that, they advance with books.
- Number of books: Every skill has its own book, and there are 54 different skill books in the game.
- Cost: Every reading costs 20,000 EXP.
- Cooldown: After reading a book for a skill, you wait between 18 and 30 hours before the next one; books for different skills have separate cooldowns.
- Goal: Getting from M1 to G1 takes 55 successful readings.
Metin stones that drop skill books
On the official servers, every Metin stone in the table below drops skill books. The level 75, 80 and 85 Metins (Metin Pung-Ma, Metin Ma-An and Metin Tu-Young) and some dungeon Metins don't.

Which map should you farm at which level?
- Level 5-20: In your kingdom's first village (Yongan, Joan or Pyungmoo), hit the Metins of Sorrow, Combat, Battle and Greed.
- Level 25-35: Move on to the second villages (Yayang, Bokjung, Bakra); that's where the Metins of Black, Darkness and Jealousy are.
- Level 40-50: The Yongbi Desert offers three different book-dropping Metins in one place. From this level on, Metins also drop Soul Stones, so your earnings go up.
- Level 55-70: Hit the Metins of Devil and Death on Mount Sohan and the Metin of Murder in Doyyumhwan. The Metins of Fall on the 4th floor of the Demon Tower drop books too.
- Level 75-89: The Metins in this range don't drop books. If you're after books, go for the Metins of Murder and Death or for bosses.
- Level 90 and up: Metin Jeon-Un in the Red Forest drops books, Soul Stones and Blessing Scrolls.

Bosses, chests and trades that give books
- Bosses and strong monsters: The Demon King (75) on the 3rd floor of the Demon Tower, the Ochao General (102) in the Temple of the Ochao, Nemere (108) in Nemere's Watchtower and King Bao (125) in the Abandoned Fortress drop skill books. The Mighty Kappa and the War Chief bosses are on the list too.
- Chests: The Powershard Chest, Nemere's Chest, Razador's Chest, some Ebony Boxes, dungeon reward chests and the Destruction Chests can give books.
- Trading with Seon-Hae: You can take 10 skill books you don't need to Seon-Hae and swap them for a random skill book for your character for 1,000,000 Yang, or for a Powershard Chest for 100,000 Yang.
- Market: Skill books can be traded and sold in private shops. Selling the ones you don't need is a good way to buy the books you're missing.
Watch out while farming books
- Plan your readings: Since the cooldown applies per skill, you can read books for different skills on the same day.
- Know the helper items: An Exorcism Scroll lets you read a new book right after the last one without waiting. Concentrated Reading raises the success chance of your next reading.
- Set priorities: Don't try to improve all your skills at once; focus first on the attack and support skills you use most. We explain the classes' skill setups in our class selection article.

Frequently asked questions
Which Metin drops skill books?
On the official servers, almost every Metin stone from the level 5 Metin of Sorrow to the level 90 Metin Jeon-Un drops skill books. The exceptions are the level 75, 80 and 85 Metins and some dungeon Metins.
How often can you read a skill book?
For the same skill, each read starts a cooldown of 18 to 30 hours. Since books for different skills have separate cooldowns, you can improve several skills on the same day.
How many books does it take to get from M1 to G1?
It takes 55 successful readings. Failed readings don't count toward that number, so you'll usually use up more books.
Does reading a skill book affect your EXP?
Yes. Every reading costs 20,000 EXP. If you're very close to leveling up, keep that in mind before you read.
