Where Do Soul Stones Drop in Metin2? Soul Stone Farming Guide
Once your skills reach G, the way forward goes through the Soul Stone. This legendary stone takes Grand Master skills to Perfect Master, but it's hard to find and every reading costs rank points. This guide explains where Soul Stones drop in Metin2, which map to farm at which level and what to watch out for so you don't waste stones. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers may change drops and rates.
What does a Soul Stone do?
- Purpose: Upgrades skills from Grand Master (G) to Perfect Master (P). It disappears after use.
- Cooldown: On the official servers, you have to wait up to 12 hours between two readings. An Exorcism Scroll lets you skip that wait.
- Rank points: Every reading costs rank points. G1 to G2 costs 1,000 points, the cost rises by 500 at every step and reaches 5,500 points from G10 to P. If your rank is negative, the cost doubles.
- Success: Concentrated Reading raises the chance of success but doesn't guarantee 100%.
Which Metin stones drop Soul Stones?
On the official servers, Soul Stones come as an alternative drop from Metin stones of level 40 and above. Lower-level Metins (from the Metin of Sorrow to the Metin of Jealousy) don't drop them.
| Metin | Level | Map |
|---|---|---|
| Metin of Soul | 40 | Yongbi Desert |
| Metin of Shadow | 45 | Valley of Seungryong, Yongbi Desert |
| Metin of Toughness | 50 | Yongbi Desert, Demon Tower 1st floor |
| Metin of Devil | 55 | Mount Sohan, Demon Tower 4th floor |
| Metin of Fall | 60 | Demon Tower 4th floor |
| Metin of Death | 65 | Mount Sohan, Demon Tower 7th floor |
| Metin of Murder | 70 | Doyyumhwan, Demon Tower 7th floor |
| Metin Pung-Ma | 75 | Ghost Forest, Land of Giants |
| Metin Ma-An | 80 | Ghost Forest, Land of Giants |
| Metin Tu-Young | 85 | Red Forest |
| Metin Jeon-Un | 90 | Red Forest |
Bosses, chests and other sources
- Bosses: On the official servers, bosses can also leave Soul Stones as an alternative drop.
- Chests: Beran-Setaou's Chest, Queen Meley's Chest, the Iron Chest, Iron Box and Iron Casket, the Gold Threaded Chest, various Ebony Boxes, the Gnoll Master Chest and the Ahtrin Master Chest are among the chests that can give Soul Stones.
- Quests and events: Expert Mission Books and the Tombola are also sources of Soul Stones.
- Market: On the official servers, Soul Stones can be traded and sold in private shops. If your own farming is slow, it makes sense to keep an eye on market prices.
Which map should you farm at which level?
There's an important rule for alternative drops: if you're 10 or more levels above the monster or Metin you kill, the drop chance falls sharply. So when farming Soul Stones, pick Metins close to your level.
- Level 40-50: In the Yongbi Desert, the Metins of Soul, Shadow and Toughness are all on the same map. The Metins of Shadow in the Valley of Seungryong are also a good alternative.
- Level 55-70: Hit the Metins of Devil and Death on Mount Sohan and the Metin of Murder in Doyyumhwan. If you have a group, the Metins on the 1st, 4th and 7th floors of the Demon Tower also drop Soul Stones; we cover the floor layout in our Demon Tower guide.
- Level 75-80: Head for Metin Pung-Ma and Metin Ma-An in the Ghost Forest and the Land of Giants.
- Level 85 and up: Metin Tu-Young and Metin Jeon-Un in the Red Forest drop both Soul Stones and other valuable items.
Tips for more efficient farming
- Build up rank points in advance: Killing monsters and spending time outside safe zones earns rank points. A Sage King's Symbol doubles the points you earn outside the safe zone.
- Be careful about killing players: Players you kill with your Pvp mode set to Free bring negative rank points; if someone in your group does it, the penalty affects the whole group. If your rank drops below zero, reading a Soul Stone costs twice the points.
- Plan your readings: Because of the cooldown, the most consistent approach is to stockpile stones and read one every time the cooldown ends. If you have an Exorcism Scroll, you can read another stone without waiting.
- Sell the extras: Soul Stones are valuable on the market. Selling stones you won't use boosts your income; for other methods, see our Yang farming guide.
Some Pvp servers put Soul Stones in a shop or raise the drop rate. You can ask other players about your server's current sources in the forum and compare servers with balanced economies in the best servers list.
Frequently asked questions
At what level do Soul Stones start dropping?
On the official servers, the lowest-level Metin that drops Soul Stones is the level 40 Metin of Soul in the Yongbi Desert. Lower-level Metins don't drop them.
How many rank points does reading a Soul Stone cost?
G1 to G2 takes 1,000 points, and the cost rises by 500 points at every step; G10 to P costs 5,500 points. If your rank is negative, these values double.
Is it worth hitting low-level Metins at a high level?
Not really. If you're 10 or more levels above the Metin, the chance of an alternative drop falls sharply. Picking Metins close to your own level is more efficient.
Do Soul Stones drop in the same places on Pvp servers?
Not always. Some servers sell Soul Stones in a shop, while others change the drop rate or which Metins drop them. Always check the guide of the server you play on.
