Metin2 Pvp Against Ninjas: Defending Against Crits and Poison

The Ninja is the sneakiest opponent in Metin2 Pvp: it suddenly appears behind you and melts your HP with critical hits, or poisons you and waits at a distance. In return, its light armor leaves no room for mistakes. To win Pvp against a Ninja, you first need to understand crits and poison. Here's how to protect yourself against both. The information is based on the official servers; Pvp servers can change these calculations.

The Ninja's dangerous tools

A Ninja focuses either on close combat with daggers or on ranged combat with a bow. Both branches have poison skills:

Skill Branch Effect on the official servers
Ambush Blade-Fight Deals more damage when used from behind the opponent
Stealth Blade-Fight Hides the Ninja and adds bonus damage to Ambush
Poisonous Cloud Blade-Fight Hits several opponents and has a chance to poison
Insidious Poison Blade-Fight Hits a single target and has a chance to poison
Poison Arrow Archery Arrow attack with a chance to poison
Feather Walk Archery Greatly increases movement speed for a short time

Protecting yourself from critical hits

According to the official wiki, a critical hit doubles damage against monsters. Against players, however, crit damage is calculated differently, and skills can land critical hits too. Pvp servers can change this, so watch how hard crits land in a duel on your own server.

  • Resistance against critical hits: Lowers the chance that an enemy's critical hit lands on you, not its damage. According to the example on the official wiki, if you have 16% resistance against an opponent with a 50% critical chance, their chance drops to 34%. On the official servers this bonus comes from alchemy; see our alchemy guide for details.
  • Account for Shaman support: The Shaman's Dragon's Strength skill raises the critical hit chance of the Shaman or a group member. A Ninja with a Shaman at their side lands crits more often.
  • Build layered protection: Ninjas may lean on piercing hits as well as crits. Since a piercing hit adds the opponent's defense value to its damage, don't rely on defense alone; add layers of protection with Max. HP, Resistance to Half Humans and Defence against Ninja.

Protecting yourself from poison

According to the official wiki, a poisoned target loses 5% of its max HP every 3 seconds. The effect lasts 30 seconds and keeps dealing damage throughout. While you're poisoned, your HP and SP regeneration stops, but potions still work.

The good news is that poison doesn't kill on its own: it leaves the target at 1 HP. The danger is the Ninja waiting for that moment to land the finishing blow. So:

  • Use Poison resistance: On the official servers, it appears on earrings and gloves and reduces the damage poison deals. According to the wiki, the only other things that reduce poison damage are percentage defense bonuses and the Black Magic Sura's Dark Protection skill.
  • Keep your HP up: Don't delay potions while poisoned; before you drop to 1 HP, keep your HP at a level that can survive one Ninja combo.
  • Use Cure: According to the official wiki, poison can be removed with the Healing Force Shaman's Cure skill. If you get poisoned in a group fight, tell your Shaman.
  • Spread out: Since Poisonous Cloud can hit several opponents at once, don't stack up as a group.

Positioning and movement

Against a Blade-Fight Ninja

Don't turn your back. Since Ambush deals far more damage from behind, fight facing the Ninja and keep your angle even while drinking potions. If the Ninja vanishes from view, don't wait alone in the open; stay close to a wall or your teammates. Pick the right defense for your opponent's weapon with Sword and Dagger Defence.

Against an Archery Ninja

An archer wants to keep you at a distance. Feather Walk doesn't last long; in the official tables it lasts 7 seconds at M1 and 14 seconds at P. Don't chase during that time; close the distance once it ends. The Purple Potion, which raises movement speed, the Slowing chance bonus, which slows your opponent, and the Warrior's Dash all help you close in. Chance to avoid arrows, which appears on helmets and shoes, makes some arrows miss, while Arrow Defence reduces the damage you take from arrows.

We explain how critical hits relate to Average Damage and Skill Damage in our bonus priority article. To test these tactics against real opponents, try For VS servers, and share what works for you in the forum.

Frequently asked questions

Does Resistance against critical hits reduce critical damage?

No. According to the official wiki, this bonus doesn't reduce the damage of a critical hit; it only lowers the chance that it lands.

Can poison kill me?

On the official servers, no; poison doesn't kill the target, it leaves it at 1 HP. But at that point a single hit is enough, so keep your HP up with potions while poisoned.

How can I get rid of poison?

According to the official wiki, poison can be removed with the Healing Force Shaman's Cure skill. If you're on your own, reduce its damage with Poison resistance and hold out with potions until it wears off.

How do I close in on an Archery Ninja?

Wait until Feather Walk ends, then close the distance with a Purple Potion, a slow or a stun. Chance to avoid arrows and Arrow Defence reduce the damage you take in the meantime.
